From any Metric/Tables which aggregate data coming from a transaction list, use the Drill to Transaction feature to analyze the data source.
The Drill to Transaction tool is useful if you have a simple summary metric which aggregates data coming from a Transaction List. You can drill back from the summary metric to the source bloc to see the different items from that Transaction list which contribute to that number.
Use Drill to Transaction
To use Drill to Transaction, right click on the cell you want to drill on (this cell can be a total). In the menu, select the Drill to Transaction option, then select the Transaction list you want to Drill on.
The feature will analyze the metric Dependency Diagram and list the different Transaction lists which might contribute on the cell you selected.
Here is a simple case where my metric directly aggregate a Transaction list.
How does it work?
Here is the formula of the block used in above example:
According to the formula:
- the Metric data takes it's source on the Transaction List '[SF] Q2 Forecast', property 'Data value'
- filters to keep only closed deal ( ['[SF] Q2 Forecast'.'Data Type'='Data type'."Closed"] ) aggregate
- aggregates the data over 4 dimensions ( 'Month', 'Segment', 'New Business / Upsell' and 'Week')
- allocated everything over the Scenario dimension item "Baseline"
When you click on cell, its scope (in above example: Segment: SMB ; New Business / Upsell: Net Upsell ; Month: Apr 21) is converted as Page selectors on the Transaction list. Filter on the formula is also converted as a Page selector.
This leads to a set of 4 Page selectors which are automatically set on the Transaction list view.
Drill to Transaction is designed for use cases where your metric data is an aggregation (sum) of a single property of a Transaction List. Some too complex formulas are not supported correctly for the moment.
On such cases, the Transaction list selection modal will alert you that the filtering might not be accurate.
This alert might be either because an unsupported function is used or because you are using filters/dimensions modifiers which cannot be expressed as Page selector in the Transaction List view.
